Spammers and Registration

Website registration should be much easier now - Check fixed some things so that there should be no more cookie errors - YAY.

We've had a rash of spammers post on the site. I try to remove the posts as soon as possible. But, since Check fixed it so that folks can more easily register for the site, now, I made the few public forums we had (such as this one, recruitment etc) so that you have to be registered to post a message. Unregistered users can still read the public forums, they just have to register to post - should cut down on the spammers.

I deleted 3 spam messages just a moment ago. They were from user "Anonymous" Just a FYI Smile

I just deleted 3 as well... And 2 earlier in the week.

From what I can see, these forums are registered only can post, but the setting is not sticking. I can log out and still post.

Bah - don't think I fixed it. I can sign out and still post a new topic. But I can't reply now.

I want to have it so that unregistered people can view the public forums, but can't reply or post until they register. That should make it so that new people interested in the guild can make an inquiry, but spammers won't take the time to register.
